Backstreet Boys honor Aaron Carter at London concert, brother Nick breaks down after emotional tribute
In the span of two hours, six members of boy band Backstreet Boys came through our London show at The Royal Festival Hall.
And in two different moments, the boys chose to honor one of their own.
Nick Carter, the drummer in the band, broke down after a heartfelt tribute to his younger brother Aaron at the concert.
“We’ll never forget him,” he said.
“Because he was such a good friend of ours,” said Perry Farrell, who led the band on the opening song.
Nick Carter says Aaron was a great brother and singer.
“He was very passionate — more than me,” he says. “He spoke to everybody. He was very, very honest.”
He breaks down during song of tribute to Aaron.
“Aaron is a very special brother,” he says. “He is a very special brother to me, and to his family — and to all of us. There’s not enough words to really express how proud we are of him.”
Aaron died last Friday after suffering second and third degree burns while setting his hair on fire in his bathroom. He had been on tour with the Backstreet Boys.
Nick Carter, who had been the band’s first-ever black member, stepped in to lead the rest of the group for the first time at their hometown show last Thursday.
