Carlos Beltran Headlines New Baseball Hall of Fame Candidates
Carlos Beltran has made a lasting mark on the game of baseball history as a player and as a person. The most famous player in Atlanta’s history and a legend on the field, Beltran was named to the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame in 1989. The Braves retired his number when he retires, and now the first baseman has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Beltran was also one of the first athletes to embrace social media and have his name and photos published on Facebook and Twitter. On Twitter, he has more than 1.1 million followers and he has nearly 150,000 followers on his Facebook page.
Here, his daughter Adanah Beltran talks about her dad, his accomplishments and his future.
How do you feel about being elected to the Hall of Fame?
“I’m very excited and happy for him to be elected. I’m also happy for baseball and his legacy and so many other great players who have been inducted. It will be an awesome moment for America and for the Atlanta Braves to honor him for what he’s done in sports and in life.
What does it mean for you as a father?
“It’s like an extra-special moment for my daughter. I don’t want to be cheesy, but everything he does is special because he’s special. He made me better at what I wanted to do, and it’s made me better as a person.
The story of our family has always been about the things that he did and how we use sports to make a difference in other people’s lives, in our lives, in the lives of our community. I hope people can feel the same way I feel.”
What do you hope people will take away from what you told them?
“I hope they understand that having a father who was a baseball player, being able to see him play in person,
